Educational Model: The Principle Approach®
EDUCA'TION, noun [Latin educatio.] The bringing up, as of a child, instruction; formation of manners. education comprehends all that series of instruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct the temper, and form the manners and habits of youth, and fit them for usefulness in their future stations. To give children a good education in manners, arts and science, is important; to give them a religious education is indispensable; and an immense responsibility rest on parents and guardians who neglect these duties. -Noah Webster 1828: American Dictionary of the English Language
Conscience is the Most Sacred of All Property
Our Methods are designed to gain a mastery of the topic studied, teach the student to reason from truth, and to act in a manner consistent with their understanding of truth and the dictates of their conscience.
Some of our methods include:
-
The Notebook Method embraces the four steps of the learning: reason, research, relate and record. It aids in the Biblical purposes of education by "enlightening the understanding, correcting the temper, and forming the habits of youth that fit him for usefulness in his future station."
-
"4-R"ing - Research, Reason, Relate and Record
-
Key Word Studies - in-depth study of the meaning of key words based upon their traditional rather than contemporary meaning. Through this study students truly understand the meaning of key words and the ability to articulate ideas and acquire a mastery of the English language.
-
Reasoning from Principles and Leading Ideas - rather than just study events and facts, we relate events and facts to "causes," we develop principles and leading ideas which ultimately lead to effects. This type of study engages the thinking and natural curiosity of the student rather than just committing names, dates, and events to memory.
Our Curriculum is unique, it is largely absent of traditional textbooks.
God's Word is the foundation for all truth; therefore, all subjects are taught with God's Word as the foundation. Our curriculum is unique, it is absent traditional textbooks, which have largely rewritten our national history and undermined the value of our form of government.
Much of our curriculum has been developed by the Foundation for American Christian Education, often referred to as FACE, who is the publisher of The Principle Approach® to education. You can find more information about FACE at face.net.
